How should I use this thing?Well, in a perfect world you would walk down to your local offset print shop and ask them to run you off a few copies of this, fold them and saddle-stitch them into little booklets.Then you would basically have a 4-color process reference sheet optimized or calibrated for that specific printer.So, another quick and dirty trick is to just print this out on your old crappy HP or Epson digital inkjet printer you have under your desk collecting dust.Will the resulting colors be accurate to what true 4color process offset or even high-volume professional digital presses can produce? Not, really.But… it will give you a pretty decent starting point and you can cross-reference your printed colors to the CMYK values you’ve input into your design software (Photoshop / Illustrator) and you can kind of get a reference for what the physical printed piece might look like.
